New Year & Project

I am definitely ready for 2011! Ready for a new start, lots of things are going to be happening in the next several weeks! To start off Kaylee is going to be turning 5, although she has no desire to turn 5 she says she wants to be 4 on her birthday because she doesn't like 5. We have a big party planned for the princess. It's going to be a butterfly birthday, so much fun.
About mid February we will be moving and I am more than thrilled. I'm ready for us to have our own place and space again.
So Cheers to a new year!!!

So there is a photo project I'm going to try out for the 2011 year. It's called project 365, you take a photo once a day for the whole year, I originally saw this last year on a scrapbook website and never started it, but I'm really going to try this year. I think it will be kind of cool to see how much the kids have changed over the year and document special happenings throughout the year. I even have a daily calendar to write in so I can keep up with what happened. Just hope I can keep at it and document all 365 days!
Well until next year!!!

Update

Wow I so totally suck!! I can't  believe I only blogged 3 times this year!! I'll try to remember what has taken place this year.
In January Kaylee turned 4, what an exciting age. We had a big birthday party with all the grandma's and aunts and uncles and cousins, it was fun.

In February... hmm don't remember, oops.

In March we took a family camping trip during spring break. We went to Huntsville State Park and then to Galveston State Park, it was a blast. Huntsville was so beautiful. I really can't wait to go back. We even took our nephew Jacob with us and I think he loved every minute of it. And Mikey turned 8!! What a great age.

In April we celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary. Wow 10 years what a milestone. Spent the evening with no kids(thanks Mom) went to dinner at Red Lobster and then back home to watch a movie in peace and quiet.

In May the kids finished up the school year, so glad for summer to be here. And Alexis turned the big 1-0! Wow I really can't believe I have a child who is double digits.

In June we spent our days inside, too hot to go out.

In July we celebrated 4th of July of course, and it was too hot to go out.

In August Alexis broke her foot! Last summer (2009) she fractured her wrist in the last weeks of school. So we had Dr's appointments and in the end a cast, up to her knee. She wasn't too happy about it.

In September we took a trip to Kerrville & Fredericksburg, TX with Mikes parents. This took place in the first week of September, the weather was great. We climbed Enchanted Rock at the state park which was fun and lots of panic attacks for me. Imagine having three kids everywhere on a big granite dome rock. Scary! But we had a great time, climbed all the way to the top and Alexis even did it in her cast.

In October we were suppose to go on a camping trip to Arkansas with Mikes parents and it ended up not working out, since we still had our vacation days scheduled off from work we loaded up and went camping in Fairfield State Park. It was fun, Alexis brought along her friend from school who was set to move a few days after we got back. We did some hiking and had a run in with a raccoon and our ice chest, it was funny, but glad he didn't get away with all our food.

In November we just went with the flow, had a wonderful Thanksgiving and moved right on into getting ready for Christmas.

In December.. kids are ready for Christmas. I'm ready for Christmas to get here and be over with. I'm ready to start 2011! I know its going to be a wonderful year, lots of new adventures.

Camping

We love camping! Well when I say we Mike, Mikey, Kaylee and I love camping. Alexis has no desire to camp but she does because we make her, she can't stay home alone. But when we get to our camping destination she has a good time. Our first camping trip as a family was back in October of last year and we went to Mineral Wells State Park, we had so much fun. It was a great trip and we even took our nephew J with us, he had a blast. It was quite cold but it was alot of fun. I think the kids favorite part was making smores and hiking. The hiking was fun, it was a place called penitentary hollow and it was amazing.

Our next place to camp was back in March of this year, we went over spring break to Huntsville State Park and Galveston State Park. Huntsville was great. The tall wavering pines were amazing!!! We were hoping to see alligator but never did other than in the nature center. The hiking was wonderful too. Our only complaint was they had been doing some electric/water construction at campsites and their was alot of sand around and it was very windy our first day and a half. We did a long hike that was great and we really wanted to go further but we were running out of daylight. We turned around and it couldn't have been at a better time, when we did make it out the sun was almost gone for the day. Galveston State Park was fun & cold. It was a good time but I think we were all tired from the great time we had in Huntsville. I got my seafood I had been wanting, yummy!! The kids got to walk the beach and collect seashells. Even though we didn't get to swim it was a great time and I loved that there was no seaweed along the beaches. I guess since the hurricane it hasn't had time to comeback.

The kids really want to go camping again, well Mikey and Mike do but I think its really too hot at the moment. I told them they could go ahead without me but they wont do that. I'm thinking that we will go camping again in October when its nice and cool. We just have to decide on a new place to venture to.

Kids

Wanted to give an update on the kids.....

Lexi is 10 now and so boy crazy (eye roll), seems like every week it was a new boyfriend. Glad summer is here so I can get a break from hearing about it. She finished school with an AB Honor Roll and got commended on her taks test. She passed all three parts and was commended on all parts. I'm so proud of my smartypants. She is growing up so fast, its hard to believe that she really is 10.

Mikey is 8 now and loves to pick on his sisters, what else is new? What boy doesn't like to pick on his sisters? He can say some pretty funny stuff. He finished 2nd grade and passed. I really do worry about how he will do in 3rd grade. Deep down I really wanted him to do 2nd grade over because I feel like he didn't really retain anything from 2nd, I just feel like he just needs some more time. I am proud of him though he has tried hard and hopfully next year he will try even harder.
Kaylee is 4 now and will be starting pre-k in August, I can't wait to see how she does at school. She is excited about school too, she wasn't at first but shes' come around about it. She talks about wanting a butterfly backpack and how she will meet friends. It's to cute. I know I will be happy for her to go to school but I'm going to be sad too, my buddy is gonna leave me. Wah!!!

Summer

Summer Break is here and the kids are letting me know everyday!!! All they want to do is fight and its so annoying. Constantly having to break them up and send them to their rooms. It doesn't help that it's hot outside and they don't want to go out and play. I had really wanted to do a summer camp this year but I waited too long, maybe next year. The kids really want to go swimming but to me its too hot to sit out in the sun all day. Maybe next week we can make a trip to the museum. We haven't been in a long time, it is indoors and just recently reopened after being remodeled.
Other than summer break going on I've been house/apartment hunting, I'd really like to buy a house but I don't think its going to happen anytime soon. We will more than likely rent an apartment or duplex for a while. I'm trying to get Mike to apply for a new job at a local college I learned about thru a friend. I'm really hoping he will apply, it would be really good for us.
