Well yesterday ended up being a snow day for the kids, again. Wednesday night leaving work I had to scrape all the windows as the rain had turned to freezing rain and then sleet. Actually as I scraped my windows the sleet was coming down. I have to say I am thankful for this little car of ours. It warms up so fast and the defroster gets an A+ from me. I got my windows scraped off as much as I could before freezing to death. Since work is only about 5 minutes away from home I didn't worry about not having use of the windshield wipers since they were frozen. As I started out from work it was lightly sleeting and barely sticking to the ground. Bu the time I turned onto the street leading into our neighborhood the sleet was coming down heavy and fast. As I got out of the car at home the ground now had a coating of little ice pellets. It was a little slick going from the car to the house. I knew at that time that school would be canceled.
When I got into the house Mike happened to have the news on and I caught it just in time to see the letter H's scrolling across the board. Our school wasn't listed. Kaylee happened to be asleep in my bed so in the time it took me to walk her upstairs and back to my room they had added our district. Knowing I wouldn't have a 5:30 am wakeup call I decided to stay up for a bit and watch the weather change. Oh boy it changed and quickly at that.
I got home a few minutes after 10 and by 10:30 the ground was white with sleet. By 11pm it was snowing, big fluffy flakes at that. Around midnight when I looked out we had about an inch and a half. At 1 am we had at least 3.5 inches. When we woke up yesterday morning it was a winter wonderland! We had approximately 4 to 5 inches. It was amazing. Around 10 am I took the twins out to play and it was nice. The sun was shining and it felt so warm out even though it was only about 30 degrees. We hurried to build a snowman. He was cute. But he quickly melted. I decided to take the kids to lunch at burger king so the twins could play on the playground. We ate and played and then headed home.
I think we really enjoyed our snow day together. Today starts spring break when the kids get out of school. And I will have a few days off with the kids. I am happy we didn't plan a camping trip this year. We wanted to but it didn't work out. So considering the weather we have had we probably would have been miserable. Maybe next year or sometime into the summer.

Bad Weather
I am going to back up here since I forgot to come and post......
Monday the 23 we woke up to lots of sleet coming down. The night before the school made an early announcement that school was cancelled. That was nice because we got to sleep in! Mike came home early due to the weather and then I got called off from work. Late Monday night the school called off school again for Tuesday. So we got a second snow day. Mike went up to his job and nobody showed up so he got to enjoy the day with us. I was thankfully scheduled off that day. Wednesday was real iffy but the kids ended up going to school. They weren't too happy over that. Then skip to Friday, a half day already because of exams. It started snowing early around 9am and didn't stop until well into the late afternoon. Kaylee was out at noon and the jr high kids out at 12.30. The snow was pretty thick by the time I had to leave to get the kids. We had some bumps along the way but finally everyone was safe at home. And thankfully again I was scheduled off. Although Saturday we were asked to come in an hour later.
I love the snow but hate driving in it. Since Sunday we have had nothing but rain. The cars still need to be washed but it will have to wait until hopefully this weekend. Today we are expecting yet another cold front and sleet! We have a big possibility of not having school tomorrow. I would be ok with that. Friday is the start of Spring Break and hopefully we will have a good week. I have taken a few days off to be with the kids. I'm not sure at the moment if we will do anything because of weather. We are trying to go to six flags on Sunday weather permitting. Maybe if we don't we can all load up in the car and go for a drive.

Done
Yesterday I mailed off for a packet from the texas department of public safety. It's called a parent taught drivers education packet! Yikes! Lexi will be 15 in a few short months so I am preparing. I looked into local driving schools and the price is ridiculous. Granted if we used a school we would get a break on insurance cost but the schools are outrageous!
Lexi is excited and I know she will do well. I will be her instructor so please pray for me! Ha! She is most excited that I will teach her and not dad. I gave her a printed drivers ed book yesterday and told her to begin to familiarize herself with it.
This will be a whole new territory of parenting for us. After we get her packet we have to choose an online course which we have pretty much narrowed down. Then we can begin teaching. She can't drive until she has a learners permit, and she can't get that until she is 15. Once she has that we can start the many hours of driving. Then after she turns 16 she will be able to get her drivers license. Things have changed since I got my license. She will be required to complete a driving test, I didn't have to do that. I was required to take a test at the dmv. They actually offered the test on the computer or paper, you got 3 chances. I took the computer twice failing, the last I decided to take the paper test. I passed with flying colors. I think the fact my whole drivers ed class was done on paper learning it was easier and what I was use to. If my parents had taught me I would have had to do a driving test.

Not a resolution
The past two weeks I have been exercising. Not everyday like I would want to but it's a start. The weather has been an issue. Too cold to take the twins out. But I've been trying to stay active and not just sit around all day. I did not make a new years resolution. I just want to be healthier. I am tired of being flabby! So I am exercising and trying to eat better. More veggies and less fat. My downfall is my coffee with creamer and sugar and drinking soda. Yesterday I really ate really well.
I am thinking of getting a bike so I can go for rides. But I'm still trying to weigh out the pros and cons.

New Car!!
We got a new car a couple of weeks ago. We really needed a second car and although we didn't want a second car payment we had no choice if we wanted a good reliable car. So I gathered lots of information for different car lots and as soon as Mike got home off we went.
Although I had a nice list compiled, the first lot we stopped at was where we found our new car. We ended up with a 2014 Ford Fiesta SE. Anyone who knows me, knows that I really don't like Ford. But I believe we got a really good car and a really good deal. It had everything we were looking for, good gas mileage, low miles and newer. I think we are both happy with our choice.
Lexi is especially excited since she will more than likely learn to drive in that car. Oh why do they have to grow up. One of my kids driving is not something I am looking forward to.

3 is the best
A few weeks ago two little monsters turned 3! I truly can't believe you 2 are three. Their birthday was on a Friday and like Kaylees birthday we invited everyone over. We even had hot dogs and links cooked. Well my sister canceled since they were sick. So we just planned on my parents coming. Well sadly they ended up canceling. My dad was really late coming in from work. So it was just us. Which was ok, just not the same.
We ate and then sang happy birthday. They really enjoyed trying to blow their candles out. Then we let them open gifts. Harley really enjoyed his mack truck with all his cars and Ella loved her hair playset.
They had a great birthday and while I wish everyone had been here with us to celebrate they had an awesomely wonderful day.
3 things about Ella...
1. Sweet, you always want to cuddle or be held by mommy or daddy.
2. Funny, you do little things to push peoples buttons to get them to laugh.
3. Verbal, you speak so good and just amaze us with your vocabulary
3 things about Harley...
1. Loving, you sometimes show your loving side but giving cuddles and it's sweet.
2. Smart, you can tell me any color or letter name.
3. Funny, like your twin you try to push buttons to get a reaction from people.
I really can't believe you two are 3 years old. It's been a fast 3 years I can say that. Love seeing you 2 growing by leaps and bounds.
Love you Ellie and Har

9 is awesome!
On January 20th, Kaylee turned 9! She had a great birthday. We got her a new bicycle which we let her pick out and I believe she made an awesome choice. We got her a few things to open on her birthday as well. Her Grammi and Grandpa came over to celebrate as well as Aunt Jen and cousins Nicky and Katie. We did this on her actual birthday, she didn't want to celebrate over the weekend. So it was a waiting game for everyone to show up and then a rush since the next day was a school day/work day. She had a great day and was very happy to share it with everyone.
9 things I love about Kaylee...
1. You are caring to others
2. Funny, you have a great sense of humor.
3. Love, so loving to everyone
4. Shy, you show your shyness sometimes and it's truly beautiful
5. Exciting, always happy about the little things
6. Unique, you have a way about you that makes you YOU
7. Willing to help out when asked
8. Crazy at times which is a good thing.
9. Different, you are you just like you should be!
I love you Kaylee!
