Tis the season

We celebrated thanksgiving 3 days ago, this holiday season is moving right along! According to the Hallmark channel we only have 26 days until Christmas!! I love christmas more now than when I was a child. I love seeing the joy in my children's faces come christmas morning. It's just pure happiness!

Our thanksgiving was good! I thankfully did not have to work. I actually got off work early on Wednesday which was nice. As soon as I got home I jumped right in on cooking. Thursday morning was no different, lots of cooking. We had way too much food prepared as usual. Of course we all ate way too much too.

Harley wasn't feeling well and slept most of the time. Only to wake up as everyone was getting ready to leave. Poor guy didn't get much play time with cousins.

We were expecting 25 plus people and it ended up only being 18 of us. So there was alot of food left over and we've been working on it all weekend.

Thanksgiving night I gave in and headed to walmart. I got alot of gifts!! I took Lexi and Mikey with me. Lexi was in charge of getting Kaylee a Nintendo 3ds xl and Mikey a game he has been wanting. I picked up things for Ella and Harley. After we left we made a stop for a gift for Mike. It was really a good shopping night. As soon as we got back home I started wrapping. I am lacking a place to store gifts so I've been wrapping as I buy.

It feels good to be almost done. I have a little over 3 weeks to get the rest done and I don't think it will be a problem.

5 Weeks!

Were only 5 weeks away from Christmas! How is that possible? Hard to believe Thanksgiving is almost here too! Let me back up to Halloween! Halloween was fun. Kaylee dressed as a mermaid, Ella a flapper and Harley Iron Man. They were all so cute. We had car problems earlier in the day so it was decided that I would take the 3 youngest and Lexi. Mikey wasn't going to be trick or treating so he was okay with staying home. Lexi came along with me to help out.

We took them to my mom and dad's neighborhood. Our neighborhood is so diverse that maybe 1 to 2 houses per street actually celebrate and give out candy. The kids had a blast and brought home way too much candy. I was surprised that we only had one little melt down the whole evening and that was on the way back walking to my mom's house. Ella got scared. But she was fine.

Two weeks ago I took on the supervisor position at my job. The past 2 weeks has been a blur! Last week was a total nightmare because we were so busy everyday. I finally started catching up and coming up for air on Thursday and Friday. Yesterday I happened to speak to my boss and we are having a store visit this coming Tuesday. No stress right? Yay so I'm going to go and sacrifice 2 hours this morning getting some things in order. Blah!!!!

Last weekend we finally had a break in our rainy weather for us to go and take pictures for our Christmas card. I was really thinking our pictures would end up being staged indoors. But finally last sunday the clouds broke away and it was a beautiful day! I was happy to have a good hair day too!!! Our first stop was a nightmare because of Kaylee. She in no way wanted to take pictures.

We got a lot of pictures like this....
and this

and this...

and this...

ugh....

She was being such a turkey!!! She just didn't want to take pictures, she wanted to be back home playing her computer!!! So I gave up and decided nobody would be seeing Kaylee's beautiful face on our Christmas card this year.
We started home and then Mike asked if I wanted to try another spot for pictures, sure why not. We were all already dressed and out, might as well. We finally got some good pictures!!! Including Miss Kaylee's face!!

Of course this isn't all the pictures! I took so many. We had a blast. I have decided my next purchase for my camera is going to be a tripod and a remote so we can take family pictures with all of us!!!

I got crafty!

I decided on a whim to make the little kids shirts. I had already planned on Kaylees treat bag. I had hoped I had shirts for the little kids to wear but I didn't. So off to Michaels I went to buy them shirts. I was thinking they would have toddler sizes but they didn't. So we ended up with youth small. They are going to be really big on them but it will work out, at least they can wear them again next year and probably the next. Ellas I will more than likely tie back so it won't be so awkward. Harleys I can tuck in I suppose.

The kids are looking forward to the carnival but it looks like it's going to be a rainy day. But I believe either way it will be fun for them.

So behind

I've been so busy for the past couple of weeks, blogging has been on my mind but I can't ever seem to get on and actually blog. We've been busy at work and I have put extra hours in. We had a visit to get ready for and I am proud to say busting my butt did alot of good. We got a great score in my department. Of course I couldn't have gotten it all done without my co worker!!!

The kids are doing good in school. Right now Lexi has straight A's. Michael has had some struggles but has been going every morning to tutoring. And he says its been helping. Hoping to see his grades going up. Kaylee is doing great too. I am really proud of her, she comes home and does her homework without being asked and all on her own. A big milestone for her!

This weekend we got ready for Halloween. Decorated outside with spiderwebs and some window clings. I am going to try to take the kids to a pumpkin patch if I can get a weekend day off.

I also started Christmas shopping this weekend. I am happy to have a start. With my kids getting older it is getting harder and harder to buy for them. The three youngest are pretty easy to buy for, they want toys! We bought Lexi a laptop last year. Mikey wants a laptop this year which makes shopping for him easy. I may have to make it a mix of things for Lexi. I can't shop for clothes for her since she usually doesn't like what I buy her. I will probably get her a gift card somewhere.

.... I obviously forgot about my post since I started this on the 7th and today is the 20th.

We are ready for Halloween. Kaylee is going to be a mermaid, Ella a flapper and Harley iron man. This Saturday is the school carnival and the little kids are looking forward to it. We still don't know where we are going for trick or treating. Last year we went to the rec center for trunk or treat. We had a good time although it was alot of waiting in lines. We may just opt for going door to door.

A week on the books

School started this past Monday the 24th. It's been a crazy blur of a week. Getting our bodies adjusted to waking at 5:30am has been tough. Well I've woke at that time, I wait and wake the kids at 6. Monday went good, I dropped Kaylee off and the twins cried wanting to go to school themselves. Next we dropped off Mikey. Last we had to wait a bit to drop Lexi off. Kaylee gets to school at 7:10 and school doesn't begin until 8am. Mikey rides the bus and school begins at 8:15. Lexi has been a mix of riding the bus and being taken by me and her school begins at 8:45.

Monday was a long day. After we got all the kid's home we had dinner and talked about the first day. Then I had to make a supply list for Lexi and Mikeys supplies they needed. I already had some things at home that they needed. So we headed out for the remainder. Luckily we were able to get everything we needed at walmart except for a spiral. Since Lexi and Mikey are in Jr high and High school they don't get a list of supplies needed at registration. They are made to wait until the first day of school to get seperate lists from their teachers.

I have worked extra this week at work because of back to school. We have been super busy all week. Monday I was thankful to be off, that was our busiest day. I was also off yesterday.

Kaylee says she likes her teacher and is glad to see her friends again. Mikey is just going with the flow. He is making extra effort to stay on top of homework. Lexi says her school is different but she likes it.

I am glad they have had a good week. And we are all happy the weekend is here.

School

School is almost here! I can't believe it, summer has gone too fast. I feel like we didn't get to do everything that we wanted to. School starts back on the 24th and I have been trying to gather everything the kids need. I am done with Kaylee for school supplies. I have bought several clothing items needed. I won't have Lexi and Michaels supplies needed until they start school, that's when their teachers give them lists. This year we have one in high school, one in jr high and one in elmentary. I think each kid is excited in their own way.

Lexi is having to make schedule changes. She is dropping all of her ap classes and gt. She claims too much stress. I told her it was all up to her. On Wednesday when she registered she was able to drop all but one class. That one class left has to have a parent signature and the counselors weren't  prepared. So she is hoping to have it taken care of on the first day.

Michael was pretty upset that he has to take pe this year but he knows the choices he made in not trying his best was the result of that.

Kaylee is still asking me to home school her. Unfortunately that's just not possible.

Thursday Kaylee has meet the teacher from 5:30 to 6:30. Then right after we get to rush to the High School where Lexi will have a pep rally and get to pick up her schedule. She has told me that I don't have to go but I am going.

Today has been a lazy day although I did have to run a few errands. Lexi needed a book for school so we went to half price books and by the grocery store for a few things and to get gas in the car. After we got home I cooked hot dogs and sausage out on the grill. I finally found the dogs we had at my parents house a few weeks back. They are put out by ballpark and they are chilli flavored. They are delicious. Lunch was yummy and we had way too many leftovers.

I also took advantage of the day and repaired the Nintendo wii. Harley had put a penny in the disc slot a few months back. I had to special order a screwdriver from amazon. We finally got the screwdriver but actually sitting down to fix the wii kept being put off. I was able to take it apart and put it back together in nothing flat. And I have to admit that I did end up with 3 extra screws. Not sure how that happened but it is together and we have played on it. Of course now for the next few weeks it will be the in thing to do.

Now we are hanging out and I'm letting the twins play in their water table. It has been a good day off and I am glad to have tomorrow off as well. I guess that means I need to plan what we will be having for dinner tomorrow.

Galveston

Our trip was so much fun. I know I had a really good time and I hope everyone else feels the same. We left sunday morning around 8:30 am. We had to make a stop first to get ice for the ice chest. Then we were on the road. Galveston is approximately 5 hours away from where we live. My sister was leaving from our parents house and we just planned on meeting up in Huntsville at the Sam Houston Monument.

So we drove and Harley was being whiny, then he started throwing up. It was mainly mucus and thankfully Mikey was able to handle the situation while I drove. It wasn't much at all thankfully. Poor guy slept most of the drive. Right as we got into Huntsville I really needed to go potty, having drank a coffee, can of soda and bottle of water will do that to a person. We got back on the road and headed a few miles down to the monument. It was actually the first time I had ever been to it even though we camped across the hwy a few years ago. It was a neat little stop and a great way for us all to stretch our legs for a few minutes.

We hopped back in our cars and headed back on our way. Right before we got to Houston I really needed a bite to eat. I made a quick stop through Wendy's drivethru. It was just what we all needed. Back on the road we went and we got closer and closer to downtown Houston. I have never drove all the way to Galveston with me being the main driver. Usually I drive part and Mike drives the rest. I really had to put my big girl panties on and make it through Houston. My biggest fear was traffic and not taking the correct route. But I did it and it really wasn't that bad.

Finally got out of Houston and through the little towns until we finally made it to exit 13 where our hotel was. I thought for sure Lisa would already be there waiting for us, instead we were waiting for her. She was only minutes behind us. She went to the other hotel a few miles down the road. She made it and we decided to see if we could check in even though we were early. We did have to wait a bit but finally were told they had 2 rooms ready and we could check in. We really wanted connecting rooms but at the time none were available together. We went ahead and took what they had. I wish we had checked into one room and waited for the other to become available.

After we got settled in our rooms we drove down to the beach. We settled for the state park. My sister and I didn't wear our bathing suits, just the kids. We did go in the water but not far since we were in our clothes. We got the kids to build sandcastles and they played in the water. Kaylee spent alot of time collecting seashells. We kept having to get after the kids for going out too far but they did pretty good about minding. We stayed for 2 hours and then headed back to the hotel. But not before making a stop at walmart for some food. We got lunchmeat and bread for the next day. Each of my kids got some candy and we got more water, and hairbands for the girls since I had forgot them. I also bought a rotisserie which we devoured when we got back to the hotel.

Back at the hotel we took showers and baths after we ate. Then suprisingly everyone settled in and went to sleep. I was quite shocked they all went down so quick. I was really tired myself.

I woke bright and early at 4am. I had to tell myself it was way too early and go back to bed. I was back up at 6am for good. I waited a bit before I tried to wake anyone. I passed my sister in the hall. Her son had puked in the middle of the night and she was off to wash his blanket at the hotel laundry. I got some coffee and headed back to my room where I really had to beg the kids to get up. I didn't want to miss free breakfast and have to deal with finding breakfast for them. They finally got up and I decided to wait on dressing the 3 youngest until after breakfast. The kids had their breakfast and then we went back to our room to get dressed and a bag packed for the day. When we finally headed out it was about 10am and we headed for the bolivar ferry.  The ferry is free and provided by txdot, my kids were surprised it's an actual road. I followed my sister and told her it was her choice if she wanted to drive onto the ferry or walk on. She chose to drive on and I'm glad she did. When we got to the other side we ended up visiting Fort Travis. It was a neat piece of history to see. If it had been cooler out we would have stayed longer. We headed back for the return ferry which took forever before we boarded. I was the first car to drive on which was kind of creepy for me.

We finally made it back to the island and headed for stewarts beach. Stewart's beach is a swim beach that you pay to get in by the car. We paid and drove in, headed to the bathroom since we all needed to change into our bathing suits. The walk there and back was horrible with all the sand. We all needed to eat lunch by this time and opted to stand and eat out of our car trunks. We all ate and made sure to pack lots of water, then made our trek down to the water. This particular beach rents umbrellas and chairs. We asked the lady next to us how much and she said $35, we chose not to rent. We already had enough sunscreen slathered on and decided to deal with the sun. We had a blast in the water. The twins really loved standing in front of me and us jumping the waves. I got salt water in my eyes not once but twice and it burns. Kaylee was actually swimming in the ocean. Mikey played with his cousin Milo and Reese and Lilly kept trying to jump on my back with the waves. We had a really good time. The walk to and from our car was treacherous with the hot sand. Ella somehow decided to leave her shoes in the car and had to be carried there and back. I sure am glad we decided to skip bringing the sand castle stuff.

We made plans that when we left the beach we would head straight for the pool at the hotel and we did. The kids kind of got mad at me for making them wait to get in but I wanted them to have a snack before we got in. We finally got in and only had one scare. Harley went under, after that he wasn't so brave anymore. He only wanted momma to hold him. Ella on the other hand was being too brave. I had finally had enough trying to watch everyone and we headed back in. The kids were upset but they just didn't understand how dangerous it was getting with me being the only one watching them.

After we got back to the room I made the 3 younger kids get into the tub for a bath. That was nice getting them all bathed at the same time. I got them all dressed and layed down to relax then I got my shower. It felt good to get all that sand off. After I was dressed I decided to take care of all our swim stuff and took it to the laundry. It felt good to get a jump start on laundry.

When the laundry was finally taken care of we headed out to grab some dinner. The kids decided on whataburger. It was delicious. When we finished up eating I took the time to start packing up our stuff. Then we settled in for bed. I actually slept until 6 the second morning and was set to lay back down but Ella woke up. I made all the kids get up and we went down to breakfast. My sister and kids were still sleeping. I texted her but didnt bother knocking on their door. After we had our breakfast we went back to our room. I got everyone to brush their teeth and clean faces so I could pack everything away. I got everyone dressed and started loading the car. My sister was in the process of waking hers and getting them dressed. We had finished packing the car and went ahead and went to her room to help her pack. We got all our cars loaded and then checked out of the hotel.

I had already planned to go back to the island to visit the souvenir shop and that's what we did. First parking on Seawall was a nightmare. You now have to pay for parking when it use to be free. I had to set up an account and then pay. Good thing it's only a dollar am hour. The kids were going crazy in the souvenir shop. Wanting everything they saw of course. Harley picked a watergun, Ella never picked something so I had to pick for her a necklace. Kaylee got a bottle of shells with her name on the bottle, Mikey a set of shark teeth, necklace and sand dollar. I picked up a necklace for Lexi and a set of coasters for myself and a laser cut seashell. We finally headed back on the road to leave the island.

We made a stop in texas city to go to bucees. We had never been to one. I got gas and then we all went in. And boy that is a huge store. The bathrooms were nice and clean. We all got snacks for the road, I also picked up a shot glass for mike. When we got ready to leave it was raining and by raining I mean pouring down rain. We finally made it back to the car and everyone got buckled in and off we went. Not knowing where you are exactly makes it scary driving on the freeway. But we did it, the rain slowed and then picked back up. Water was pooling on the road and it was scary. Finally it stopped raining and we all relaxed. The closer we got to downtown Houston the crazier the road got. But we made it through downtown and then sat in traffic that seemed to last forever. There had been a wreck and the road was piled up. Finally after about an hour of traffic we made it out.

We I just cruised the road and when we came into Madisonville we stopped at that bucees. Us girls really needed to use the restroom and get more snacks. Finally everyone settled again we hit the road. We hit traffic as we came into grand prairie and as soon as we got on 360 it was smooth sailing. We finally made it back home at 6pm. With the rain and traffic it made for a long ride home and we were all glad to get out of that car.

We had an awesome time for sure. Nobody had a bad time. We had a few lil fights between kids but nothing major. Kaylee got a slight sunburn on her face and my sister where her bathing suit wiggled around, all the rest of us got tanned through our sunscreen. Now to plan our next trip. We are thinking padre island in March. But unfortunately my sister and her family won't be able to make it.

Vacation

Yesterday was my first day of vacation and a busy one at that. I got the twins room cleaned, cleaned my nasty coffee maker, cleaned my room, packed some more, registered Kaylee at school and had a long visit at mom's house.

Kaylee is registered for the 4th grade and it was a chore. We have to verify proof of residence every year. Since we don't carry a utility bill in our name we have to have Virginia or Jimmy come to the school and have a paper notorized. It's a pain in the butt. The twins wanted to go bye bye so I decided they could come with me instead of staying with Lexi. Lexi and Kaylee came along with me. We finally made it through the line and Virginia showed up. Jimmy failed to tell her to bring a utility bill. So she had to go back and get it. When she got back we were still waiting in the long line. Finally made it up with few meltdowns from the twins. I asked Lexi to take the twins for a walk since they were getting antsy. We got our paper notorized and finally Virginia could go back home. I'm sure she was happy. She's just had her monthly round of chemo. I got all of Kaylees paperwork updated and turned in, glad to have it done. Two more to go, one August 11 and one August 12.

After registering we got ready to go to my mom's house. I stopped at sonic for happy hour drinks and it took forever! We started out to moms and had to take a different route since their was traffic built up on the hwy. We finally made it and it visited way longer than we should have. We didn't make it home until 10:30. I'm sure my mom was tired after a visit with us. I felt bad because I didn't help cleaning up the toys the kids drug out and I had intentions of putting away the kids table but didn't. Oops.

It was nice to have a visit with my sister. I'm glad we will get more visits before she leaves to go back home. We have a cookout planned for Saturday. That's going to be fun. And of course we will be leaving on Sunday for the coast. Fun!!!

Dreaded Dentist

I got up bright and early this morning, 6:30, blah. I wish I could've slept in but maybe another day! The appointment wasn't until 10:30 but I needed a shower and wanted to make sure the kids were up in time to eat breakfast since I knew we'd be awhile.

We got to our appointment right at 10, I knew we'd have the normal paperwork. 3 pages for each kid. I had Lexi help make sure I didn't miss anything. They finally started calling our bunch back. We finished up at noon. Lexi went first, no cavities but she did have a missing filling. Mikey next, 3 cavities and a chipped filling. Kaylee ended up having 3 cavities as well. Harley and Ella were both cavity free. So proud of those 2, they both sat by themselves and both did really well getting xrays taken. I sat with Ella and she did real well having her teeth brushed. Mike said Harley did really well too. Let say I am thankful for insurance!

After the dentist we came back home and I left to run errands with Lexi and Harley. First a stop at Kroger to try and get my registration sticker. Wouldn't you know, my luck their machine was down. Then to Staples for one thing they didn't have. Then off to Target for a box of pull ups. That was the quickest trip I have ever made to Target. Then our last stop to Walmart for groceries. Oh and Harley a Happy Meal. We couldn't pass up getting him a minion toy.

After we got home me and Lexi made a lasagna for dinner. It was really tasty. I don't care too much for pasta. It always makese feel too heavy. One small piece and a salad was enough for me.

I tried to work on my brothers wedding project but the little ones refused to let me. Maybe another day.

It sure was a busy one. Here's a pic of Ella and Harley from the dentist.

Puney

Harley woke yesterday not feeling so well. He had a low fever so I gave him some advil. He layed around and then perked up, did  good all day and then felt all yucky again. He took a nap and woke up crying, saying he hurt but we never could pin point the hurt. I put him in bed with me and finally around 11pm I put him back in his bed and he slept all night. He woke at 8am and still had fever. His fever finally broke about 10 this morning. But as I type he's feeling bad again. He seemed to have a small cough but he doesn't sound congested. We think he got hot playing at the park the other day.

I hope the lil turkey is feeling better in time for our trip. And heres to hoping ella doesn't get it if it is contagious. We've done vacation with a sick one and it's not fun!

Tomorrow all the kids have a dentist appointment. This should be fun. It always is. Note the sarcasm. I have one kid already complaining they don't want to go and don't have to. I have had to tell that child that they infact have to go and that they have no choice. I am hoping for good reports from all my kids. No cavities please!!!!

My sister leaves tomorrow to head to Texas, I can't wait to see her and her kids. She should be here Monday, but I won't get to see her until Wednesday. And Wednesday is Kaylee registration for school. That's also my first day of vacation, woot woot. I will have lots to do to get ready for our trip. And I know lots of areas need some deep cleaning. The fridge needs it and I want to get cabinets done.

My lists grow bigger and bigger. Well i better get off this blog, got lots to get done before work today.

Laziness

It's quiet in my house... 10 am and all the kids are still sleeping. I don't know if that's a good thing or bad thing. I've cleaned up this morning. Put dishes away that people left out rather than loading them in the dishwasher, took out trash, started a load of laundry. Now I'm just enjoying the quiet until everyone wakes up.

I had plans of taking the little kids to the splash pad to play but since they are still sleeping it's going to be too hot. I should take advantage and pack some things. I got my schedule for work yesterday and I am almost working a full weeks schedule in 3 days time. I knew I'd have to work Sunday through Tuesday but I wasn't expecting a full schedule. Oh well it will be over quickly and then I can enjoy my 9 days off!!! I'm jealous my sister is taking 18 days off!!! I'm sure she deserves it though!

Uh oh one just made her entrance! Miss Ella is awake! And has decided to lay back down in my bed with Harley and Kaylee. Kaylee came down to my room at 7:30 this morning, Harley at 7:00am. Both fell back asleep. Harley was awake when his Daddy was leaving for work at 6. Today will be a no nap day and early to bed!!!

Work yesterday thankfully went quick. We weren't too busy but I had alot that had to get done.

Less than....

Today has been a busy day. I got cleaning done and then a little more cleaning. And then playing with the twins. Then I cooked dinner. We ate dinner and I cleaned up the kitchen. Now I'm trying to relax.

Work called and wanted me to go in, but its been a busy day already, I'm wiped out. Plus this was my first day off in 4. I had stuff planned already. Of course I feel guilty for not going in but I need a day off too, even if my vacation is coming up.

Dinner was yummy, I fixed hamburger patties with sautéed onions and bacon on the side. Kaylee helped me make potato salad. She chopped all the pickles and eggs to go in it. It was delicious. Usually we have a good amount of leftovers but not too much from this meal.

Less than a week and my sister and her kids will be here. They are suppose to be here late Monday. I probably won't get to see her until Wednesday, the first day of my vacation. I won't have my schedule until tomorrow but I'm sure they have me scheduled Sunday through Tuesday. You tend to get worked to death before and after a vacation.

I want to start packing but I feel its too early! I already have our swimsuits and towels packed. I could pack other stuff like sunscreen, shampoo and conditioner, first aid, etc. Stuff we won't need for the next 12 days.

I am undecided if I want to take my nice camera or not. I'd hate to leave it in the hotel or hot car and I don't know if I want to lug it everywhere. I had a point and shoot but gave it to Lexi, I may just have to borrow it back for a few days.

Days of summer!

The last week has kind of flew by. I just checked my calendar and school registration is fast approaching. Kaylee registers on the 29th of this month. Lexi on the 12th of August and Michael the 10th of August. I'm thankful none fall on the same day! Although it would be good to get it all done at once.
I hadn't even thought about school supplies until my work was running specials. So I've picked upba few things here and there that I know we needed. Today I actually pulled Kaylees list and got her a stack of supplies pulled out from my school supply stash. I am thankful I only have a few more items to get for her. Now it will be a waiting game until school begins to get a list for Michael and Lexi. Their teachers will give them a list of items that they need for each class. School starts on August 24th. Lexi is dying to get back to school. She is so bored. She says she feels so lost without school. I don't think I ever felt that way. Maybe a little bit, but just wanting to get back to my friends and the excitement to see what teachers I would have. Kaylee has no deisre to go back. She says summer is going too fast. Michael is just going with the flow. He don't care either way. Of course I'm sure he has mixed feelings since he didn't pass. I know I do.
So were just counting down, before we know it summer vacation will be gone and school will be here.

Getting there

We are counting down until vacation, I'm sure I'm not the only person who does that. I am ready for a break from work. Too much. My sister and her kids will be here the 27th. My vacation starts the 29th. We will have a few days before we drive down to the coast. I am sure we will find something to do.

Yesterday I found a bunch of stuff for us to do while in Galveston if time permits. We would more than likely need an extra day but at least we have some options if we need them.

Work is driving me crazy. Some days I am at the point of not wanting to be there. I sure hope taking a break will help.

Ella is asking me this morning if we are headed to the beach. I wish I could say yes.

Today I have much to do. Cleaning as usual, laundry, I need to tackle the bathroom, I need to make a run to the store, I will be cooking dinner.

Busy busy!

No rest

Harley has decided he knows how to open the baby gate. I woke up to kaylee telling me they played in the bathroom. She said there was water everywhere. Happy she took charge and cleaned up all the water for me.

After cleaning my room and making breakfast for the little ones I decided to take advantage of the overcast and windy day. We drove over to the car wash so I could use their vacuums and clean the inside of my car. That was a chore. Such mess. Then back home and I decided to fully clean the inside. Oh my gosh, kids can be so gross!!! I have declared no more jellybeans, popcorn, york peppermint patties, lemonheads, hair ties, ponys, miscellaneous toys, a water bottle, candy wrappers in my car!!! Oh plus the crushed oreos in the floor. It really was ridiculous!!!

Now to just keep the car clean until vacation! I will be reminding everyone no bringing snacks or drinks or toys to the car. I usually keep up with pulling trash from the car. The snacks though were beyond me keeping up. It really shouldn't have been so bad. My car has 2 bins in the floor, we've only used them when we went on vacation last. They are in the 2nd row, right where feet are all the time. They were so nasty, all around the rims of the containers. Blah, totally gross! But they are clean now. And the second row seats slide forward for whoever to access the 3rd row. Well the rails the seat slides on was really gross too. I got all that cleaned up.

I really find it strange that I am the only person who cleans the cars. The red car will be next on my list but not an extreme priority at the moment.

Few more down

Kaylee and I are counting down the days until vacation. I don't know who is more excited.

Yesterday was independence day. We were thankful to spend the day with my mom and dad. We had a wonderful time. Lots of talking and laughing, so much my cheeks hurt! My parents prepared dinner of course the normal for the occasion. Hot dogs and hamburgers, along with all the fixings and watermelon for desert. We stayed for most of the day and it was a day well spent. We had already decided we wouldn't be seeing fireworks. With all the rain we had the lake is too full, meaning all the parks surrounding the lake was closed. We decided it would be too much of a hassle to see them. Nobody was overly upset. We did however watch them on tv. Totally not the same but it worked. It was kind of an early to bed evening.

I was up at 7 this morning and my mom texted to see if I wanted to go to winstar casino with her. So I did. We had a really good time. It's nice that it's only an hour away. Perfect for lots of talking. We stayed for about 4 hours. I came out a bit ahead, I can't say the same for mom. But we had fun and that's all that mattered. I'm just glad I got to put extra money in the vacation fund!!!

Before I left this morning I put beans and ham on in the crockpot, it was nice to come home and only need to make the cornbread for it. It was delicious too.

I have to work the next 2 days and then I'm off for 2 days. I need to try to get the kids to the pool or splash pad. The little ones need stuff to do.

So were going to continue to count the days until vacation!!!

Dried out

Finally we are starting to dry out from all the rain. The rivers and lakes are still full but the raging water has calmed to normal. There has been many deaths because of the flood water. It's very sad, especially for their families.

We have had hot days but honesty in the shade it's not too hot. The mosquitoes are horrible right now. Yesterday I took the twins out to play on their water table and within 5 minutes I was eat up. To prevent them from more bites we decided to come inside. And nobody threw a fit.

We are having potty training success!!! With Harley anyway. Yesterday he used the potty all day!!! He woke up dry from his nap and went straight to the potty without being asked. Ella on 5he otherhand is not wanting to use the potty and I just don't understand. Yesterday twice she wet her panties. She was upset about wetting them but made no attempt to use the potty when she had to go. My older girls were potty trained at 2 years old. Mikey at 4. I have always heard girls are easier to train than boys but this is not true with Ella. I'm just ready to be done buying diapers! I know she has to eventually get it! I just hope it's sooner than later!

Here in a few weeks I get to register Kaylee for 4th grade. I'm not sure if she will be excited for this upcoming year or not. 3rd grade was alot harder for her, but she did it and came out with an A-B average! I have no doubt she will do wonderful but I'm sure she thinks otherwise.

My sister comes for a visit at the end of the month. I can't wait to see her and her little ones. Ella will have a new best friend for sure!

We have planned a vacation with my sister. Were going to travel to Galveston and spend 2 nights. I have already reserved our rooms, we are staying about 15 minutes from the island. Kaylee is beyond excited. She has asked to go to the beach since before school let out for summer break. I am in full planning mode. I am a habitual list maker and my lists have already begun! We were going to camp but couldn't get sites that we wanted so we looked at hotels and found a good deal. Mike may not be able to go with us. He more than likely won't get those days off. Just knowing he may not go makese happy were not camping. I'm sure I could get the tent setup without him and the campfire started but I would no way feel safe without him there. Even the hotel makes me nervous but thankfully we are trying for connecting rooms and we will be inside.

We are driving down on Sunday, I want to make a stop in Huntsville and take the kids to see the statue. I'm nervous about driving through Houston but I know I can do it. I'd like for us to check in to our hotel and maybe play in the pool that day. On monday I would like to spend the day at the beach with the kids. Then on tuesday we will be checking out and coming home. But I would like to take the kids for souvenirs. I really want to take the kids on the ferry and hopefully we will get to see dolphins. I hope we don't have any jellyfish encounters while swimming. I hope I don't get 50 extra gray hairs from taking my kids to the beach or worrying about the drive or worrying about what we will eat for meals. I hate being a worry wart.

Summer

Summer is in full swing for us. No set plans for the summer. We'd like to go on a trip but don't know if it will work out. Since we had all the rain we are thinking of trying to go tubing. But it's not a for sure thing. I wish I had planned for something but I didn't. Lexi is actually going tubing next weekend with a friend. So I guess she can let us know how it goes and if everyone would like it. I know Kaylee and Mikey would love it but not sure if it will be something for Ella and Harley.

I took the little kids to the splash pad last week and really want to take them to the rec center this coming week. They have a bigger play area for them. I have thought about taking them to the water gardens in downtown Fort Worth but I am thinking I would need Mike to go with me for that one.

I would like to take the kids to the butterfly garden in Dallas but I will have to see if that would be feasible without Mike. I tend to get lost when driving to Dallas. Last year I took the kids to the Perot Museum in Dallas and got lost. I even had my gps, ha. That lady can be confusing when she is yapping away.

I finally got the Jr high kids report cards. Lexis grades were fabulous. Mikeys needs alot of improvement. I am sad to report he will be repeating the 7th grade again. It was like no big deal to him, which makes me sad. He knows he didn't try his best. I wish he had. He had the opportunity to take summer school for a large fee. But it's accelerated and with his learning disabilities we didn't see it to be a good choice. Hopefully he will work alot harder next year.

I started this yesterday and of course didn't get to finish.

Yesterday at work was boring. We have been slow since it's the beginning of summer. We should pick back up in a couple of weeks.

Today I am off of work but working in the house. So far I've vacuumed and now I have pulled out 4t clothes for the twins from my sister. They have to be washed since they have been in boxes. So I have the first load going. I have scrubbed the toilet. Now to wait on laundry.

Dinner is going to be hot dogs, they were suppose to be cooked out on the grill but I don't think that will happen.

Today is just a day at home.

Finally

After today around 1pm we shouldn't have anymore rain for several days!!!! I am really happy about that considering I am off work for the next 3 days starting tomorrow. The rain that fell early friday morning caused flooding in Dallas. Of course other areas too but mainly there. My work floods. It actually hadn't flooded for quite sometime but with all this rain we have started flooding again. So yesterday I got to listen to the loud dehumidifiers running.

Next week will be a long week at work. I'm working quite a bit since someone is going on vacation. I guess it will all work out ok since I can sleep in.

Today I will need to go and get some groceries and I will do that after work. Tomorrow I hope to get snap happy and take pictures of the kids. Maybe make a trip to six flags with the big kids. We did their monthly membership almost a year ago and I think after we ride the new ride we are going to cancel. It has been a great way to be able to go to the park. But the kids get bored. So maybe next season we will get passes again. Give them a break.

My kids are happy to finally be done with school. I picked them all up yesterday and took them to lunch at cicis pizza. They were happy about that. I let them play games and they had a good time. Even Harley who is usually scared of the arcade played. He drove the racecar and loved it. He is usually the first one ready to leave but this time he was the last one ready to leave. He threw a big fit.

When we were trying to figure out where we wanted to eat Harley wanted a cheeseburger. But nobody else wanted that. I will have to get him a cheeseburger today I guess.

End in sight!

They just said on the news that the rain will end soon! Yay! It stormed again last night and is suppose to do the same tonight. I am glad I will be home to enjoy the storm instead of being at work. I love the thunder and lighting and these storms have been bringing alot of it.

The twins have been house bound all week because of the weather. We have been able to play outside here and there but they don't  want to stay long because everything is still wet and the mosquitoes are horrible and not to mention its been so humid and sticky feeling. We may just make a trip to target just so they can run around crazy.

The big kids are happy they only have today amd tomorrow left of school. Kaylee had extra pep this morning knowing she is almost done. She is my child who has always hated school. The first couple of days of the new school year she has some excitement and then we get the i dont want to go to school, i hate school. Then she settles in after a few weeks and is ok. But after breaks she doesnt want to go back. The other two kids dont give me much problem. They dont like school but are willing to go. But we are all ready for a break. I always look forward to sleeping past 6am.

We don't have any set plans for summer but really hope to take a weekend trip somewhere. I want to go to the coast or head to san marcos to the river.

Everyday

We got more rain yesterday and we have rain in the forcast for everyday until Sunday. My kids want to play outside.

I started this post before I went into work, it ended up storming pretty good. Lots of wind, thunder and lighting. Thankfully by the time we left the storm was past us. Our store flooded as it normally does. The lightning show on the way home was pretty awesome. I am realky hoping today will be rain free but the news is already talking about storms for the afternoon again.

Yesterday when I did take the twins out to play Ella exclaimed "The sun is up, no more rain." I wish that was true for a bit. I think we may need to go to the local mall one day and let them play on their indoor playground.

Work was the same old stuff. I think I am going to try and look for a new job. Too many changes happening recently and I don't think they are for the better.

The kids last day of school is Friday. Yesterday Kaylee had field day, she said it was alot of fun. They got muddy too and she said everyone had to take their shoes off before going back inside to the school. I am sure that smell was lovely! Friday is a half day for them and I know they are ready for that last school bell to ring.

Today will be a busy cleaning day for me. I need to get my room cleaned up. We are having a problem with ants. With all the rain they have decided to make our house their home. I was going to spray but since the twins are always in our room I'd rather not for their safety. For now I will live with them until it dries up outside and they move out.

Picture from rain

2 by 2

As we speak we are about half way done building our Ark, not really but it feels like we may need a boat of some kind soon. Yesterday after work we went and bought a few groceries and then rushed home. We got the last 2 bags in the house as it started to rain. It rained for a bit and quit. Me and the hubby settled in to watch our movie, interstellar which was a good movie by the way.

After the movie it began to storm. I ended up going to bed. Around 2 our power went out. It was out until almost 9 this morning. I am really glad it didn't stay out longer. When we woke it was a downpour of rain. It looked as if we had our own river in the backyard. I wasnt too concerned about flooding and thankfully we didn't experience any. Also in the night we had been under a tornado warning and didn't even know about it until this morning. Good thing it didn't form or touchdown.

This morning we took a drive to see the river and then back home. Not out of the banks but pretty darn close. Around 11 we went to my parents to visit. We stayed for a bit and then headed home.

Now we are relaxing and watching the box trolls. Not a bad movie, but of course I am not truly watching it. Michael and Kaylee are. I think i am going to take a nap. My eyes feel so heavy.

I should add before i quit writing, it is still suppose to rain later. I honestly don't know how much more our rivers and lakes can take. Most are well above the normal lake level.

Rain, rain go away

It is raining yet again. And again or rather still we have everyday forcasted for rain. I do enjoy the rain but I would like to be able to take the twins to the park or go out not having to worry about Ella and Harley being puddle jumpers. I was really hoping we could do something as a family this weekend but I think that will be put on hold until further notice.

I am hoping for a small few hours of no rain so I can take the big kids for pictures. But that is looking pretty slim.

Today I have to work and only until 3:30 thankfully. I suspect it will be a slow day at work with ot being Memorial day weekend. I know last night was slow and I was having to find stuff to work on. I will definitely be ready to clock out at the end of my shift.

Maybe I will go see my parents. At least that would be out of the house. I am sure whatever we decide on will be fine. I do have movies I rented this morning.

It's May, right?!?

It's chilly today! A little over a week and it will be June. We woke up to a thunderstorm rumbling over us and a nice downpour of rain. I have been enjoying this rain we have been getting. Even if it is a bit much. All our lakes are finally full again. A bit of change from the last few years.

I wanted to make a day trip out of here on Sunday but we are suppose to have thunderstorms again. I hope the forcast changes from now to then. I want to take pictures and its the same ole stuff around here. It would be nice for some new pictures of the kids.

I wont be off work for the whole weekend but at least I will be off Sunday and Monday with Mike and the kids!

Speaking of the kids they have tomorrow and then 4 days next week for school. Then we will be out for summer!!! Woohoo. We had a really good summer last year, so I am hoping for the same this year. Sleeping in is top on my list! And of course spending time with the kids.

I just came to realize we have 1 year until we will be enrolling the twins for prek. Yikes!!! Excitement and sadness!!!

Lovely

The first week of April I took the 3 younger kids to take pictures in the bluebonnets. I love my camera, it takes wonderful pictures. The bulkyness is annoying with the bigger camera but it takes fantastic pictures. I was very surprised I got Ella and Harley to sit long enough for pictures. They did great.

You know me

I can't remember to write here for nothing! You would think it would be a reminder with me having the app on my phone but even though i see it everyday i forget to write here. Alot has happened since March. We celebrated Easter at our house. My parents joined us. Sadly my sister and her family didnt make it. Her twins were sick. So it was just us and it was a great day. As usual I made way too much food.

April we didn't do too much other than the normal got to school, go to work. Mike and I celebrated our 15 year anniversary. We had a nice weekend away. It really was awkward waking up to no kids. Last time we did that was when I was pregnant with the twins and the big kids liked spending alot of weekends at Grandma's house. We drove out to winstar in Oklahoma. It really was a lot of fun. We ended up coming out ahead so that was even nicer. We have officially decided we have to do more away trips just us two. Other than not waking up to kids, it was great being able to have conversations without kids interrupting. And holding hands and him opening the car door for me! We get so caught up in the everyday stuff, we forget the little things that are nice.

Two weeks after our adventure we celebrated Lexi turning 15! It's hard to believe she is that old. Where has the time really gone? I've been getting a little sentimental these past few weeks. Of course realizing she will only have 3 more years of school and then she will be off to college. I am really hoping she will go to a college close by. We have talked about maybe her going to the community college to get her basics and then choose a bigger school later. But ultimately it's her decision. Just today she kiddingly said she's not going to college. Her choice. I didn't go to college and I could still go. I have thought about it time to time. I still could if I wanted.

Lexi wrapped up her gymnastics. She choose not to go to her banquet. She says she didn't miss anything. I think she should have went but it was her choice for not going.

School will be out in a little more than a week. We don't have any plans set yet for summer, although I would like for us to take a weekend trip somewhere. Maybe to the coast or maybe north. A nice family trip would be good for us.

Today Kaylee graduated from 3rd grade. I am so proud of her. She made A/B honor roll for the year, got an award for citizenship, music and completion of the 3rd grade. The twins were so well behaved at the ceremony and it helped that Mike was there with us.

Reality

I had the opportunity to move up at my job yet again... and yet again I had to pass it up. It truly makes me sad. Not only am I stuck in my current position but my pay was deducted. Reasoning was restructuring of the company. And I was getting paid too much. Needless to say I'm not putting forward 115% effort anymore. I am still giving my best but no extra. Once the twins go to school I won't be so limited with my schedule. I contemplated over putting them in daycare but I honestly couldn't see paying that much money for a stranger to watch them. They still have a year home withe before prek and I think I should enjoy it while I can. After all they are my last babies.

This week has flown by and I am glad. We have one week until easter and I've been preparing. I think I have all the stuff bought for baskets and the egg hunt. Now to figure out where we will actually have the egg hunt. I could host but I am pretty sure that not everyone would want to come over. So the next best option is my parents house. I'm just waiting on confirmation. Oh and I can't forget that we need to make out the menu.

I have bought outfits for Ella and Kaylee. Bought Mikey a shirt and Harley shorts. I am more than sure that Lexi has something to wear as her closet runs over! I have a skirt for myself but would like to loom for a new shirt. We won't be matching but at least we will all have nice clothes for pictures.

It happened

Last week Michael Jr turned 13! I honestly don't know how that happened. A second teenager for me to raise and help guide in the right direction. We celebrated with a home cooked meal and birthday cake. For his gift we took him to buy a new bike. We did let him pick it out. He made a good choice for sure.

Mikey is very loving but can make his sisters mad in a heartbeat. He helps take care of the twins on occasion. Usually it doesn't take much to get him to help out around the house. He really loves playing his xbox and watching movies. He would love his bike even more if we had some decent weather to ride it in.

Happy 13th Michael!!!

Snow Day

Well yesterday ended up being a snow day for the kids, again. Wednesday night leaving work I had to scrape all the windows as the rain had turned to freezing rain and then sleet. Actually as I scraped my windows the sleet was coming down. I have to say I am thankful for this little car of ours. It warms up so fast and the defroster gets an A+ from me. I got my windows scraped off as much as I could before freezing to death. Since work is only about 5 minutes away from home I didn't worry about not having use of the windshield wipers since they were frozen. As I started out from work it was lightly sleeting and barely sticking to the ground. Bu the time I turned onto the street leading into our neighborhood the sleet was coming down heavy and fast. As I got out of the car at home the ground now had a coating of little ice pellets. It was a little slick going from the car to the house. I knew at that time that school would be canceled.
When I got into the house Mike happened to have the news on and I caught it just in time to see the letter H's scrolling across the board. Our school wasn't listed. Kaylee happened to be asleep in my bed so in the time it took me to walk her upstairs and back to my room they had added our district. Knowing I wouldn't have a 5:30 am wakeup call I decided to stay up for a bit and watch the weather change. Oh boy it changed and quickly at that.
I got home a few minutes after 10 and by 10:30 the ground was white with sleet. By 11pm it was snowing, big fluffy flakes at that. Around midnight when I looked out we had about an inch and a half. At 1 am we had at least 3.5 inches. When we woke up yesterday morning it was a winter wonderland! We had approximately  4 to 5 inches. It was amazing. Around 10 am I took the twins out to play and it was nice. The sun was shining and it felt so warm out even though it was only about 30 degrees. We hurried to build a snowman. He was cute. But he quickly melted. I decided to take the kids to lunch at burger king so the twins could play on the playground. We ate and played and then headed home.
I think we really enjoyed our snow day together. Today starts spring break when the kids get out of school. And I will have a few days off with the kids.  I am happy we didn't plan a camping trip this year. We wanted to but it didn't work out. So considering the weather we have had we probably would have been miserable. Maybe next year or sometime into the summer.

Bad Weather

I am going to back up here since I forgot to come and post......

Monday the 23 we woke up to lots of sleet coming down. The night before the school made an early announcement that school was cancelled. That was nice because we got to sleep in! Mike came home early due to the weather and then I got called off from work. Late Monday night the school called off school again for Tuesday. So we got a second snow day. Mike went up to his job and nobody showed up so he got to enjoy the day with us. I was thankfully scheduled off that day. Wednesday was real iffy but the kids ended up going to school. They weren't too happy over that. Then skip to Friday, a half day already because of exams. It started snowing early around 9am and didn't stop until well into the late afternoon. Kaylee was out at noon and the jr high kids out at 12.30. The snow was pretty thick by the time I had to leave to get the kids. We had some bumps along the way but finally everyone was safe at home. And thankfully again I was scheduled off. Although Saturday we were asked to come in an hour later.
I love the snow but hate driving in it. Since Sunday we have had nothing but rain. The cars still need to be washed but it will have to wait until hopefully this weekend. Today we are expecting yet another cold front and sleet! We have a big possibility of not having school tomorrow. I would be ok with that. Friday is the start of Spring Break and hopefully we will have a good week. I have taken a few days off to be with the kids. I'm not sure at the moment if we will do anything because of weather. We are trying to go to six flags on Sunday weather permitting. Maybe if we don't we can all load up in the car and go for a drive.

Done

Yesterday I mailed off for a packet from the texas department of public safety. It's called a parent taught drivers education packet! Yikes! Lexi will be 15 in a few short months so I am preparing. I looked into local driving schools and the price is ridiculous. Granted if we used a school we would get a break on insurance cost but the schools are outrageous!
Lexi is excited and I know she will do well. I will be her instructor so please pray for me! Ha! She is most excited that I will teach her and not dad. I gave her a printed drivers ed book yesterday and told her to begin to familiarize herself with it.
This will be a whole new territory of parenting for us. After we get her packet we have to choose an online course which we have pretty much narrowed down. Then we can begin teaching. She can't drive until she has a learners permit, and she can't get that until she is 15. Once she has that we can start the many hours of driving. Then after she turns 16 she will be able to get her drivers license. Things have changed since I got my license. She will be required to complete a driving test, I didn't have to do that. I was required to take a test at the dmv. They actually offered the test on the computer or paper, you got 3 chances. I took the computer twice failing, the last I decided to take the paper test. I passed with flying colors. I think the fact my whole drivers ed class was done on paper learning it was easier and what I was use to. If my parents had taught me I would have had to do a driving test.

Not a resolution

The past two weeks I have been exercising. Not everyday like I would want to but it's a start. The weather has been an issue. Too cold to take the twins out. But I've been trying to stay active and not just sit around all day. I did not make a new years resolution. I just want to be healthier. I am tired of being flabby! So I am exercising and trying to eat better. More veggies and less fat. My downfall is my coffee with creamer and sugar and drinking soda. Yesterday I really ate really well.
I am thinking of getting a bike so I can go for rides. But I'm still trying to weigh out the pros and cons.

New Car!!

We got a new car a couple of weeks ago. We really needed a second car and although we didn't want a second car payment we had no choice if we wanted a good reliable car. So I gathered lots of information for different car lots and as soon as Mike got home off we went.
Although I had a nice list compiled, the first lot we stopped at was where we found our new car. We ended up with a 2014 Ford Fiesta SE. Anyone who knows me, knows that I really don't  like Ford. But I believe we got a really good car and a really good deal. It had everything we were looking for, good gas mileage, low miles and newer. I think we are both happy with our choice.
Lexi is especially excited since she will more than likely learn to drive in that car. Oh why do they have to grow up. One of my kids driving is not something I am looking forward to.

3 is the best

A few weeks ago two little monsters turned 3! I truly can't believe you 2 are three. Their birthday was on a Friday and like Kaylees birthday we invited everyone over. We even had hot dogs and links cooked. Well my sister canceled since they were sick. So we just planned on my parents coming. Well sadly they ended up canceling. My dad was really late coming in from work. So it was just us. Which was ok, just not the same.
We ate and then sang happy birthday. They really enjoyed trying to blow their candles out. Then we let them open gifts. Harley really enjoyed his mack truck with all his cars and Ella loved her hair playset.
They had a great birthday and while I wish everyone had been here with us to celebrate they had an awesomely wonderful day.

3 things about Ella...
1. Sweet, you always want to cuddle or be held by mommy or daddy.
2. Funny, you do little things to push peoples buttons to get them to laugh.
3. Verbal, you speak so good and just amaze us with your vocabulary

3 things about Harley...
1. Loving, you sometimes show your loving side but giving cuddles and it's sweet.
2. Smart, you can tell me any color or letter name.
3. Funny, like your twin you try to push buttons to get a reaction from people.

I really can't believe you two are 3 years old. It's been a fast 3 years I can say that. Love seeing you 2 growing by leaps and bounds.

Love you Ellie and Har

9 is awesome!

On January 20th, Kaylee turned 9! She had a great birthday. We got her a new bicycle which we let her pick out and I believe she made an awesome choice. We got her a few things to open on her birthday as well. Her Grammi and Grandpa came over to celebrate as well as Aunt Jen and cousins Nicky and Katie. We did this on her actual birthday, she didn't want to celebrate over the weekend. So it was a waiting game for everyone to show up and then a rush since the next day was a school day/work day. She had a great day and was very happy to share it with everyone.

9 things I love about Kaylee...
1. You are caring to others
2. Funny, you have a great sense of humor.
3. Love, so loving to everyone
4. Shy, you show your shyness sometimes and it's truly beautiful
5. Exciting, always happy about the little things
6. Unique, you have a way about you that makes you YOU
7. Willing to help out when asked
8. Crazy at times which is a good thing.
9. Different, you are you just like you should be!

I love you Kaylee!

Quiet

My last update was before Christmas, yikes. Leading up to Christmas I had to work, I was off Christmas eve and we were busy. I got up that morning and spent my day doing some mega baking. I made oreo truffles, pecan pralines, pecan squares, fudge, roll out sugar cookies and candy pecans. Some of it was double batches. Throughout the afternoon we just relaxed and spent time together. We always let the kids open one gift and it is always a new set of pj's. Lexi got the little Mermaid pj's and Mikey cookies monster and I have to say that Ella and Harley picked theirs out. I got Kaylee and Ella matching Frozen pj's and Harley got Cars.
That night all the kids were in bed and asleep by 8:30. Santa came and went by 9pm. We went to bed and then I got woke up at midnight, Harley was awake. I got him back in bed and decided to peek in the livingroom. I found Kaylee sitting on the couch with the lamp on. I gave her my mommy evil eyes and told her she needed to go back to bed.
I went back to bed and then was awaken again at 3, the twins, both were up and had destroyed their room. Back to bed and up again at 5:30. I just opted to stay up. A few of the kids were up by 6 and we went ahead and woke the rest up.
The kids opened their gifts, it was a little more chaotic then normal. I usually give each kid a gift and they open at the same time and wait for the next gift when everyone is ready. But this year the kids, bigger kids got more expensive gifts so they didn'thave the same number of gifts so they just went at it basically. I like to see each open and see them see each other open. Maybe next year the guidelines will be back in place. I believe they all liked the gifts they received. We only had one gift we had to return and that was Kaylees tablet. In the end she got a better one, so that made a happy her and me.
After gifts Mike and I built the twins kitchen we got them. There were so many pieces. It took us awhile, but not too long. Next year nothing will be bought that has to be assembled. Ha. After putting together the kitchen with all the evil pieces I got busy in the kitchen making the items I planned to take to my parents. By the time I knew it, it was time to head to their house. So all in the car we went and hurried to Grammi and Grandpas house. We had lunch first and then the kids got to open their long awaited gifts.
I think each of the kids really enjoyed the day and all their new things.
