Snow

So yesterday we received our first snow of 2011 and it wasn't much at all. It was very pretty watching it come down. I think the final amount for yesterday for my area was 2/10 of an inch. It first was rain, then a bit of sleet and then snow. The kids were upset they couldn't go out and "play" in the snow, I had to ask them what snow? As soon as it was hitting the ground it was melting, we got very little accumulation in the yard. They finally went out and when they came back in they said it was boring, there wasn't even any snow to play with. I had to work yesterday and I'm sure the kids drove Mike crazy since they were stuck indoors all day.

This morning we woke to a small dusting from the early hours of the morning, about a quarter of an inch. The kids were just devastated that school is in session today. Alexis told me on the way to school that somebody probably melted everything so that they would have school. Mikey declared he was staying home from school today and Mommy won that one, he went to school. So I'm 1-0 so far today.

Mike went to work of course and I hope he made it alright, I haven't had any calls. Many wrecks this morning on the highways/freeways. Texas people just don't know how to drive in this weather. I take it slow and easy. Almost 2 years ago when we had ice, I was going to visit my new niece and nephew at the hospital, and people were driving nuts. Now I say we had ice, it only consisted on bridges and under overpasses, but still people were driving crazy. Thankfully by the time I left the hospital to drive home most of the bridges and underpasses were clear. Several years back, before Kaylee was born, Mikey and Lexi were little, I had gone to my mothers to visit and Mike was coming to pick me up that evening. Well the bridges were very icy, so on our way home we took it slow and easy and we had one big bridge hwy interchange we had to take. So we took it slow, I remember it being so scary to me. We almost topped the bridge and some idiot came up behind us, didn't like that we were moving along so slow and passed us, I guess he noticed the ice and started to slow down and slid everywhere bumping into the bridge railing twice. So now he was blocking one side of the 2 lane bridge and here come another idiot and did just about the same as the 1st one had done. We just continued to creep and just crept right on by them. No we didn't stop, had we stopped it might have been some time before we would have been able to get down the bridge. I remember feeling so bad for not stopping but I look at it as one we had 2 small children in the car and two they were idiotic enough to be driving that fast knowing there was ice out.

The snow is pretty but I will be glad when its gone, and I'm even more happier that we didn't get alot because then I would be dealing with a million pair of wet shoes, socks, gloves, hats and coats.
